Henry Gaither, military officer, was born in Montgomery County, Md. in 1751. Gaither served as a captain during the Revolutionary War and was commissioned a major in 1791. He commanded various frontier posts in the 1790's. Gaither was honorably discharged from the army in 1802 and returned to Maryland where he died in 1811.
